Eric Swisher, MD

Dr. Swisher is one of the all-around best physicians I have encountered in my life. I had a rather complicated pregnancy which required significant monitoring and delivery via C-section. Dr. Swisher’s expertise are unsurpassed. Additionally, how he communicated with me throughout the process and allowed me to make decisions were what I will remember most. His bedside manner, both in the office and at the hospital were incredible. Having worked in the medical field, I’m not always comfortable being a patient, but I was always put at ease being in his care. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Swisher to anyone. I would also like to note that the office staff is also exceptional.

Had my very first appointment with Dr. Swisher a few days ago and can finally say that I feel like I’m being heard and told accurate information regarding my issues after dying for answers for almost 3 years now. HIGHLY RECOMMEND him!! Thank you beyond measure, Dr. Swisher!

I saw Dr Swisher when I was admitted in LewisGale hospital. He was very knowledgeable about what he was speaking on. I was going to be released and wanted my current gynecologist to take care of the problem. I have since then left physicians to women and became a patient of Mr Swisher. He explained things in a way that a child could understand, very courteous and polite, I highly recommend this physician. I have had three children by C-section and cyst on my ovaries removed. They were not all completed by him, some were years ago, but he was very understanding and knowledgeable of anything that I spoke with him about

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Swisher’s for about 7 years now, at both Physicians to Women and Lewis Gale. As long as he is practicing, I’ll follow him anywhere. I came to him in 2017 as a new patient, after giving birth to our miracle baby girl at 25 weeks in 2014, in hopes of growing our family and needing a boost of fertility assistance. Dr. Swisher eased every fear I had about trying again at that first appointment. Since then, I’ve had two cervical cerclage procedures and two successful full term pregnancies and c-sections under his close medical guidance. During my 2014 pregnancy, I rotated through a lot of providers while on hospitalized bedrest at both LGH and RMH. Many of them are still practicing in the valley today and I can confidently say I’ve never received the medical care from anyone else like I have from Dr. Swisher. Nothing even comes close! He continuously has went above and beyond to put my care first, even within his personal life (and even when both of my unscheduled c-sections came on very inconvenient days for him.) Sometimes life is really great and sometimes life is really tough, and we’ve seen each other in both of those moments. I will never have complete trust in a provider like I do him. We consider him an answer to many of our prayers!

Several years ago, I was in need of a gynecologist when a friend highly recommended Dr. Eric Swisher. After my first appointment, I knew I had found the right doctor.I can’t speak highly enough about Dr. Swisher. He is an exceptional doctor who goes the extra mile to provide the best possible care. His approachable personality always puts me at ease immediately. He attentively listens to any questions and concerns I have, and gives direct, concise answers and information. Because of Dr. Swisher’s knowledge and expertise in his field, I know I’m in very capable hands. I have the utmost confidence in him.

I am blessed to have found Dr. Swisher after my previous OB doctor stopped practicing.He has exceeded all of my expectations for a provider. He is compassionate, complete, caring, and is respectful of your time and feelings.Dr. Swisher has helped us through some tough times and every time we leave the office we are so thankful to have him on this journey.Truely a God send.

This was my first time meeting Dr. Swisher from what I seen so far great doctor. He listens to you and takes your opinion into consideration most doctors don’t do that. Some feel like it’s there way or no way. But with Dr. Swisher he’s different definitely would recommend him.

Dr Swisher as well as the nurses/PAs in this office were really excellent. My IUD strings were lost and my past doctor was unable to retrieve them, but Dr. Swisher was able to remove and replace my IUD in the same visit. He was very kind and calming during the process and told me exactly what was going to happen before each step. Obviously there’s no way to make that kind of procedure totally painless, but I feel it went as easily as it could have. I have epilepsy and I am frequently on edge before medical procedures, but here I felt very safe and well listened to.The doctor assisting him was so sweet and brought me water and a snack and a cool rag after the procedure. They let me take my time, catch my breath and ask follow up questions. 2 days after and I am feeling back to myself again, and super relieved!

First time seeing Dr. Swisher and he was great. I have a great fear of ob/GYN doctors but he made me feel at ease. Talked me through everything he was doing.

Dr. Swisher explained all of my test results clearly and in terms I understood. I appreciated his concern for me and my follow-up treatment. I understand why my doctor referred me to him for my further diagnosis and treatment.

Absolutely fantastic doctor. Hes brilliant, thorough, and doesnt make me uncomfortable for being my first male OBGYN. He diagnosed my painful conditions, did an amazing job on my surgery, and reccomended amazing PT/follow up care physicians. Even through my nervousness and additional symptoms, he made sure to give me every bit of detailed information to help me understand what is going on in my body. Id reccomend him to anyone in the area. He has helped me so much. Probably the best OBGYN Ive ever had in my life. Im really blessed to be his patient.

‘The office texted me and asked me to leave a review, so that is what prompted me to’I am a 19 year old girl at Roanoke College. I had a very scary episode in the emergency room regarding my IUD. I got an appointment scheduled with Dr. Swisher. In the first appointment, told me the plans for the next appointment which were to remove my IUD and then replace it. He then continued to criticize my gynecologist from home, saying she put the wrong size IUD in for me and he had no idea why she did that Later in the appointment, he showed me pictures of my ultrasounds, and basically told me I had PCOS. He did not really add much detail to that statement, and basically told me not to worry about it until later in life. I left frustrated and afraid. I called my parents and my ObGyn and home, and she had a lot to say. First of all, she said the IUD was the correct size because she measured and double checked, because she is a competent doctor. Second of all, she told me that PCOS was not something that could be diagnosed by one ultrasound, for i needed to continue to be looked at and when I got home we would figure out where to go next. Reluctantly, i kept my appointment with Dr. Swisher because I could not drive the 6 hours home to get my IUD replaced. About a week later, I got a call saying i needed to push the appointment back almost a month because they didnt have an ultrasound tech the day i had my appointment. The afternoon before my appointment, they called me and told me I needed to move my appointment up an hour earlier. I had to re arrange a ride to get me there.I had asked Dr. Swisher in my last appointment to prescribe me valium to take before I got my IUD replaced. I had to call back 3 times and ask again and again for them to actually write me the prescriptionI got there that morning and the sweetest nurse was helping me. I wish i caught her name, but she really saved me this appointment. I went back and as the appointment started, i started to freak out a little. The nurse was holding my hand and tried to distract me, so she asked me about my weekend plans. I said that I was going to see my boyfriend. At this time, Dr. Swisher is placing my IUD, looks up at me, laughs, and says well good thing youre getting a new IUD. I was absolutely shocked at how unprofessional that comment was, him not knowing me at all and I being 19 years old. I continued to be in pain and squeeze the nurses hand, and he finished. He said all done, tapped my knee, and walked out. That was the last time I saw him. The sweet nurse sat with me and got me a snack because I felt light headed. She also got my friend to come back and sit with me . As we were leaving, we went to the checkout desk. The lady asked if i needed a follow up appointment, and I said i did not know because Dr Swisher just walked out and didnt say anything. She just stared at me with a blank expression. I told her I did not want another appointment, and I was going to see my ObGyn from home.I am very displeased with Dr. Swishers lack of professionalism and sympathy. I will not be returning. I wish that nurse all the best, she is an angel.

Dr Swisher has been my doctor for years. He’s always very consistent with his exams and explains everything completely. He never makes you fell rushed.

Dr. Eric Swisher is phenomenal! I am so happy that hes the doc who did my C-Section. He was recommended to me by coworkers of mine who had him for their deliveries. He always made me feel so comfortable, is a wealth of information, to the point, and has jokes for days. Id recommend him to anyone looking for the best! We have a healthy baby girl and couldnt be more grateful for his help.

I would like to give an update on my previous review. Apparently, it was Dr Wexler, not Dr Swisher, who reviewed my daughter’s request to be seen for bleeding at 11 weeks. Yesterday, my daughter’s water broke and she lost her beautiful baby boy at 16 weeks. If this practice had been willing to see my daughter when she reached out to them, they may have recognized that she needed a cervical cerclage and they my have been able to save my beautiful grandson’s life. A “miscommunication” was blamed on a language barrier. My daughter’s native language is English. Being that in the United States all patients are entitled to free translation services, I find this disheartening.

He’s the first doctor to ever really talk through PCOS with me and to give me good information and resources to help. He was kind and thorough and listened with care!

Every time I go the office is friendly & timely. Dr Swisher is knowledgeable, direct, positive, helpful, and mindful of costs. Couldn’t ask for better.

I’ve seen Dr Swisher for 8 years now. He provides the best care and is extremely knowledgeable. The facility was clean and the admin and nurses were all incredibly nice.

Very friendly and informative! I felt instantly comfortable and thankful to have him as my doctor this go round especially after a miscarriage. He is professional and knowledgeable.

While hes not my doctor, and I wont be switching because I really like mine, he ended up delivering my son last week and did a great job with it. He seems very competent, as everything went well. The nurses who helped us out also did phenomenally. I wont be switching hospitals any time soon!

I am very disappointed with my recent visit. I came in thinking I might have a UTI, so they ran the test. On my way out Dr. Swisher informed me it came up negative. I went to work in pain, and ended up having to use PTO due to the pain increasing. Ended up in urgent care, and within minutes they informed me I do in fact have a UTI and started medication immediately. I will not be returning to his practice again, and I’m shocked something like this happened.

Dr Swisher is wonderful. He was very knowledgeable and explained everything thoroughly, which put me at ease. He was very kind and respectful throughout the appointment and would recommend him to anyone! 10/10

After going through over a year of pain, hes the only doctor who listened to my symptoms and figured out my issues. He truly cares about the well being of his patients. He explains things well, is very knowledgeable, and the best OBGYN around. Im so grateful to have him as my doctor!

I recently switched to Dr. Swisher and could not be more pleased. He addresses all my concerns/questions during appointments and also is very responsive to questions sent on the patient portal. He is very knowledgeable and takes time with each appointment. At my previous provider I would wait an hour at times before I was even seen. This has never been the case at his office.

I have been with Dr. Swisher since 2011 and he is honestly the best doctor I have ever connected with. He is brilliant, he cares, and he takes the time to explain things in a way that makes sense to your average person. I cannot recommend him enough. I even followed him to his new practice from where he was before. He’s one of the only doctors I have ever trusted, and I am forever thankful for him.

I found out 2 days before NYE that I had abnormal cells on my cervix. When they did further examination they found out I also had cysts, fibroids and polyps. It was a unanimous decision that I get a partial hysterectomy.I waited months in the previous office to get scheduled for it, after 5 months of no secure answer, I decided to look elsewhere.Dr Swisher was highly recommended by one of the NP in the clinic I was going previously.My experience with him since the first day has been nothing less than amazing.He was very thorough in his explanation of what the surgery meant and consequences. He added me immediately to his schedule and right then I had a surgery date. He FOUGHT with the insurance company when they decided to deny my surgery and won. I don’t think there are enough words to describe how amazing he is.Post surgery I had trouble waking up from the anesthesia, he checked on me three times before I left the hospital. My incisions are well positioned that even in a bikini you won’t see them and honestly they are healed so well that you would have to know they’re there to see them.His staff is exceptional!!! Starting from the receptionists to his nurses, they all deserve 10 stars.I highly recommend him and I have left my previous clinic, because honestly no one else will give you the attention he does.

Dr. Swisher is literally a modern day Super Hero! He will ask you about the issue/problem you are having then he will use his expertise and training to fix your problem. He does not refer out, HE knows how to fix your problem and will do it. He fixed my problem and gave me my life back. We are truly blessed to have him (and his skill) in this area.

Eric Swisher, MD is hands down the best obgyn!! My journey into parenthood has been filled with many challenges and this Doctor has been one who from the first visit we had with him knew exactly how to handle and address my situation. With his knowledge we have been able to bring 2 boys into the world and due with another this June. He is awesome and very involved and caring of his patients! Can’t say enough good about his guidance, bed side manner , and knowledge!

I had a total hysterectomy in December 2017 and have to say Dr Swisher is an amazing doctor! He came in to see me prior to my surgery and addressed myself and my family. He has the best bedside manner. He came in the morning after my surgery to discuss it and he was so polite and again spoke to myself and my family. Just two days after surgery I could barely see where he made the incision. He called me personally after going home to check on me and gave me the pathology results. I can honestly say he has been one of the best doctors I have ever had. All of my follow up appointments were so good, he was so polite and listened to any concerns I may of had. I highly recommend Dr Swisher as a surgeon or as your OB/GYN.

Dr.Swisher is AMAZING. I cannot say enough good things about him as a doctor and surgeon. I spent days trying to find an OB in the Lewis Gale group to handle my second trimester D&C. I was told by the nurses and other OB that no one in the LG group performed a D&C this late in pregnancy. I was so deflated especially after this loss and learning that I would need to drive 3 hours across the state to see someone that would do it. Later that day they called to let me know the brand new OB(to the group, not the profession) could do it. I was relieved but also nervous as I hadn’t met him before. He was great from the first time I met him. He got me set up for surgery the next day. Explained the entire process to me and my husband at length. He answered all of our questions.Because the process was already delayed by the rest of the group, I went into labor that same night and landed me in the ER in very bad pain. He came in early to see me and do a quick scan. He let me know the surgery had been expedited. Before surgery he saw me again. After it was over he checked in on me for a quick exam and took almost an hour just talking to me and explaining everything that happened in surgery to what to do post op. I was about to leave LG after being told to drive 3 hours across the state for a relatively routine procedure and after not being listened to when I called about repeated bleeding. Dr.Swisher is the reason I’m staying with them now. Forget the rest. He is an amazing doctor.

Amazing! Words could not describe how great he did. Im so glad he actually listened to me and pursued imagining to find out what was going on. He reviewed with me all the different options of my surgery and how it could go with what he would do! He kept my wife updated afterwards and also kept in contact with her during my recovery.

This doctor has no experience for high risk pregnancy. Thanks to his bad care and arrogance I lost my baby. Please find another doctor.When the specialist doctor recommended a different procedure in my pregnancy, he lied to us and said that the doctor had not done it. Be careful that mine is not the only story.
